UGK feat. Outkast - ‘Int’l Player’s Anthem (I Choose You)’
Kind of old, although not old enough to be have been gone for a long time and be hip again, this song came up on my iPod today and it puts me in a great mood, so I thought it was worth putting up here.
I’m assuming a decent amount of people haven’t heard it, and they should, if only because of how great the Andre 3000’s first lines of the song are:
So I typed a text to this girl I used to see
Sayin’ that I chose this cutie pie with whom I wanna be
And I apologize if this message gets you down
Then I CC’d every girl that I’d see-see ‘round town
And hate to see y’all frown, but I’d rather see her smilin’
Wetness all around me, true, but I’m no island
Peninsula maybe
It makes no sense, I know crazy
Give up all this pussy cat that’s in my lap
No lookin’ back
Spaceships don’t come equipped with rear view mirrors
They dip as quick as they can
The atmosphere is now ripped
I mean, how good is that, and over a drumless soulful gospel choir and horns? Ahhhh… When the drums, bass, and claps come in for the Pimp C verse, I’m pretty much good to go.
