If there’s not a word to describe someone who you can’t really say is your friend (I mean you guys have only been in the same place like, four times, but(!) have had to be introduced three of those times) and would say is a little more than an acquaintance (but that one time, you guys both got wasted and bonded over the third season of ‘The King of Queens’ and exchanged phone numbers!), I’d like to introduce a term I just coined in an email: friend-quaintance. I think this one will come in handy.

In the happenstance that I just invented a word because my vocabulary is that of a second grader, my bad.
