He’s a great teacher, and we couldn’t stop talking.” They were starting to attract attention. “We were sort of ignoring all these important people, and Bill’s father...

Great news: I like food again
A few weeks back, after some long documented liquor license troubles, JoeDoe officially hard opened for business across the street from me. The style of food is sort of a much more American-y Market Table or Little Owl. And while the price points are a little high-ish, there’s no sub-$20 entree, the portions are gigantic— much bigger than any of the aforementioned comparable places,...

Alex Balk, editor
Me: anyways
Me: blah blah balh
Me: i'm a terrible writer
Me: :(
Balk: Hahaha, that's not how I meant it. I was talking about the way you bitch and moan when your copy gets changed.
Balk: You're fine as a writer. If I had to find fault I would say that you're a little too insecure about your tone and voice, so you tend to put in too many qualifiers.
Me: WELL THAT'S HOW I TOOK IT ALEX
Me: yeah
Me: that's true
Me: i overthink it
Balk: WHich is ironic, because in real life you're arrogant as fuck.

"Damn, I wanted a smoothie."
So I just watched the first episode of the third season of Friday Night Lights, and without giving too much, or really anything, about the story away, I just want to share how happy I am with where they take the third season of the show.
Without talking too seriously about a TV show (and thus implying that my opinion matters in any way, shape, or form)…
Let me just say that the third...

Google released the newest version of Google Maps Mobile (2.3.1)— the cooler new features are the street views (and street views UI) and newly available subway/walking directions.
Apparently it uses a lot of data (for streetviews probably) and will subsequently drain a lot of battery, the installation also requires a reboot, so avoid downloading it if you’re in the middle of a sick...
What More Can I Say feat. A New Jersey Nets...
David: How much are low-level tickets for the Lakers game this season?
netsbasketball1: depends on where you want to sit.... did you receive the e-mail for the pre-sale?
David: Yes, but the pricing I was pulling up via ticketmaster was much higher than [link to pricing chart]
netsbasketball1: well the lakers is a premium game, so you have to add $10 dollars to whatever price you are seeing
David: I was pulling up tickets that costed $606 for section 124, row c
netsbasketball1: those are courtside seats.... might be available for a full season
David: What is the face value on those though?
netsbasketball1: $606
David: But on this seating chart the highest one is 200-something?
David: Like, on this chart row 124 is yellow and it says the face value for them is $130?
netsbasketball1: Row C is on the floor...... if you are sitting in Section 124 row 1 - 26, it's 130
netsbasketball1: $210 is for seats in 107-109 or 121-123
David: Is that some Jay-Z ish?
netsbasketball1: the floor seats
netsbasketball1: how much are you trying to spend?
David: Unclear, how much would it cost for me to sit next to Hov?
netsbasketball1: not that those seats are available, but the face on those tickets is $1,750 dollars per
David: How would I go about procuring those?
David: Would it be through a team rep?
netsbasketball1: well you would need to purchase them for a season ticket
David: They're not available on a one-off basis?
netsbasketball1: next to HOV.... no way
David: Haha
David: [My friend] is going to have his own [TV show] starting in [the near future]
David: Can we leverage that?!
netsbasketball1: I don't know
David: I guess I've got 99 Problems and premium Nets basketball tickets is one!
netsbasketball1: I can help with $210 dollar seats

Some food musings, fusings.
Ippudo’s ramen is the best ramen in the city. That’s not to say that it’s the best value (it’s probably $5-7 more than it should be) or most available (at 8:40 last night there was a 45 minute wait), but as far as noodles, broth, and pork, I think it’s the best place for each of those— except Minca’s pork MIGHT be better, but if so, Ippudo’s is a...

Alex B.: Although [an intern] came in to my office this morning to introduce herself and said, "By the way, I'm a huge fan of yours, I've read everything you've written," which basically came out as "YOU ARE OLD." So fuck her.

David C.: And I'm sure she hasn't read all that weird TMFTML-shit.
Alex B.: I know. I don't need to be reminded though.

Resizing my browser. Listen guys, my browser window is set to a certain size for a reason, and you really have nothing to gain by making the window size as big as it can possibly be. If anything, it annoys me much more than it helps you fill my screen with your GREAT content. This is especially prevalent in over-styled fashion and art websites.
